Since October, more than 50 people across California, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New York, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania and Washington have contracted E. Coli after eating at Chipotle.

The latest E. coli outbreak has made three people sick in Oklahoma, and one person each in Kansas and North Dakota, according to the CDC.
According to the CDC, the infections began in mid-November and all five patients reported eating at a Chipotle Mexican Grill in the week before their symptoms started.
It is noted that Chipotle’s stock suffered a 20 percent decline in stocks after the outbreak; however, shares went up by 3.6 percent at $567.71 in premarket trading following Ells’ appearance in Today.
Chipotle announced it would revise its standards after reports of illnesses, with measures like high-resolution testing of ingredients, end of shelf-life testing of ingredients, continuous improvement in the supply system based on testing data and enhanced food safety training for team members. Twenty people have been hospitalized in that outbreak.
Even though the strains of bacteria are different, it’s not clear to officials whether the outbreak is separate from or a continuation of the nine-state outbreak that sickened dozens throughout the Pacific Northwest and Northeast from mid-October to early November. These cases are now being examined separately because it is “not known if these infections are related to the larger, previously reported outbreak”, the CDC says.
He highlighted a customer comment on Chipotle’s Food Safety Update webpage that summed up his feelings perfectly: “I’ve been so supportive lately, but just don’t know how much more of this I can take”.
The seven-state E. coli outbreak linked to Costco’s chicken salad is over, with officials still unable to determine the root cause.
That said, repairing damage to the Chipotle brand will likely be tougher than implementing new food safety procedures. Their illnesses are thought to be caused by norovirus, a contagious virus that causes inflammation of the stomach and intestines.
Out of five, three ate at a location in Oklahoma and two had food at a Kansas location.

“While it is never possible to completely eliminate all risk, this program eliminates or mitigates risk to a level near zero, ” he said earlier this month.
