Louis van Gaal Accuses Manchester United Players of Being Scared Under Pressure
And following his sides 2-0 defeat at Stoke on Saturday thanks to first-half goals from Bojan Krkic and Marko Arnautovic, Van Gaal’s future is surely hanging in the balance.

When asked about that option, Van Gaal responded, “that is something I speak to Ed Woodward about by himself – not with you”.
“It is getting more hard because I am also part of the four defeats we have lost so people are looking at me and I have to deal with that”, he added. “And I have to deal with that, but much more important is that the players have to deal with that because they have to perform”.
“Then you have to manage that you are very confident to start the Chelsea game, and that you dare to play football – our football!” I look at myself first of all, see what I can do better.
He put that down to his players’ fear of failure and conceded that United must somehow find the courage to overcome that if they are to arrest their slide.
“I am not so interested in public sayings”.
“I have received [the club’s backing] all the time but we have lost so there is a new situation”, said Van Gaal.
“We didn’t play our football because of the pressure and we would not cope with the circumstances either as a group or individual players”.
The Dutch coach is overseeing a miserable Premier League campaign, and the loss to the Potters was the side’s third-straight league defeat.
“We didn’t dare to play our football”, he said. “I have been doing my best to try and find a solution but once the players are out on the pitch they have to do it by themselves”.
“It’s Manchester United we are playing for, it’s a special club and it’s a privilege to play”.
Van Gaal left his captain Wayne Rooney on the substitutes’ bench against Stoke and his introduction prompted an improved performance after a shambolic first half in which the hosts scored twice.
Midfielder Michael Carrick said of United’s form: “It’s a terrible run, a disgusting feeling. I think it’s a unusual season in terms of results but we’ve been reasonably consistent and if we can continue that into the second half of the season we’ll be delighted with that”.

The United manager then admitted in his post-match press conference that he could quit the club, and Bosnich insists the Dutchman’s body language highlights his current mindset.
