Real Christmas tree recycling depots open in Winnipeg
With or without incentive, donating your Christmas tree is a great way to give back to the earth this holiday season.

In order to protect the park and prevent damage to the chipper, trees must be cleared of all bolts, nails metal hooks, wires, stands, frosting, ornaments, lights, tinsel and other decorations. Residents of apartments or condominiums should check with their property manager or representative for specific recycling instructions. “Hopefully, one day we will get to get a real one again, but for now with young kids, artificial has been an easier option”. Trees must be cut in 4-foot sections with all trimmings removed.

The Department of Parks and Recreation announced that residents may start bringing their Christmas trees for recycling starting Saturday, Dec. 26.
NOTE: Trees are not accepted at the Franklin and Lone Pine Avenue recycling centers. For Fairmont residents, trees can be dropped off at the Fairmont City Shop across from the Humane Society. N.in St. Petersburg. The cost is $3 per load for a maximum of five trees. Trees are weighted down and sunk in the ponds or lakes to attract bait fish which in turn attracts larger fish.
