Arizona Cardinals rout Green Bay Packers 38-8 to earn playoff bye
If the Packers can sack Carson Palmer and ace their running game they will be a good chance to beat the Cardinals and enhance their status as a heavy contender for the NFC Championship. Calais Campbell has been a particular standout for the Cardinals.

A facemask penalty on Arizona’s punt return Jeff Janis gave the Cardinals the ball at midfield.
“They were very aggressive to the line of scrimmage”, Green Bay coach Mike McCarthy said.
The victor will be the No. 3 seed in the NFC playoff and will open the playoffs at home on wild-card weekend.
The Packers improved to 10-4 with their third straight win, maintained their one-game lead in the NFC North and secured a playoff berth for a club-record seventh consecutive year. Seattle at Arizona, and Tampa Bay at Carolina – the Cardinals and Panthers are chasing the top overall NFC seed – also will be at 4:25. Arizona is about to find out just how much they’re going to miss defensive back Tyrann Mathieu, who was lost to a torn ACL a week ago.
Taking advantage of Green Bay’s shoddy O-line, Arizona (13-2) had nine sacks, its most since 1986 and third-most in team history.
Rodgers was 15 for 28 for 151 yards and a touchdown with one interception. Quarterback Aaron Rodgers threw for 204 yards and one touchdown in 22 of 39 passes. One of those first downs and seven of those yards came on a well-designed fake punt by Tim Masthay, which may leave some wondering if special teams coordinator Ron Zook should get a turn calling offensive plays.
The game originally had been slated for a 1:00 pm ET.
Things got worse for the Packers from there.
A 47-yard pass play to Floyd advanced the ball to the 33 and two more completions, plus a defensive holding call, set up Palmer’s 7-yard scoring pass to John Brown, putting Arizona ahead 17-0.
Todd Gurley scored on a 2-yard TD run with 10:34 left, Akeem Ayers returned a fumble 45 yards for a touchdown in the first quarter as St Louis ended Seattle’s five-game winning streak.
Notes: Freeney made an extra $300,000 in incentives with his three sacks….
