UCLA should be playing a better opponent, but in the 40+ bowl system, they face a Nebraska team that has won just five games.

In what will be their third matchup in four seasons, UCLA and Nebraska will do battle at the Foster Farms bowl in Santa Clara, California on Saturday night. Rosen squared his shoulders and hurled the ball, just as he was crushed by Rose-Ivey. “I thought it was a good football play.”…
It was Armstrong’s touchdown pass that put the Cornhuskers ahead to stay. The Huskers showed the Bruins a little bit of that #HuskerPower on Saturday night. Rosen curled up on the sideline.
In the third quarter alone, Nebraska rushed for 151 yards, while holding UCLA to minus-5 rushing yards in the quarter. Had it been able to score more, it would have put the Bruins away earlier, but instead UCLA had a chance to tie the game late.
UCLA finished the regular season 8-4 and 5-4 in Pac-12 conference play.
The Cornhuskers’ recipe was simple.
UCLA’s defense ranks 88th nationally against the run, and mobile quarterbacks have irritated it in the past.
By the end of the game, Nebraska had run the ball 62 times for 326 yards.
“We were a very fragile team”, said Mora. “We need to get bigger, we need to get stronger, obviously”.
The Huskers’ first drive resulted in a touchdown, too.
Erik Powell added field goals of 30 and 25 yards to help the Cougars (9-4) win a bowl games for the first time since the 2003 Holiday Bowl. Tommy Armstrong Jr. got Nebraska on the board again with a 22-yard touchdown pass to Stanley Morgan Jr., as Nebraska went on top 27-21.
EL PASO, Texas (AP) – Luke Falk threw two touchdown passes to lead Washington State past Miami in the snowy Sun Bowl.
Bryant Shirreffs completed 10 of 17 passes for 86 yards and gained 75 yards on 19 carries for UConn (6-7).
Then, UCLA turned into an entirely different team, going for four straight three-and-outs.
Nebraska’s takes the lead, and of course they would miss the extra p… Quarterback Tommy Armstrong Jr. accounted for 250 yards of total offense, including 76 rushing yards on 10 carries with one touchdown.
Meanwhile, an offense that had looked electrifying on its first drive fell into a scoring drought that lasted over 28 minutes – watching a 21-7 lead turn into a 37-21 hole.
EMOTIONAL MEMORIES: Mora has great respect for Nebraska, especially after an emotional trip there for the Bruins in 2013 just six days after receiver Nick Pasquale was killed when he was struck by a vehicle while he was walking in his hometown.
Between the morning trip to St. Anthony’s and the afternoon workout, Riley met with the media for the final time before the bowl game.
That left redshirt freshman Cristian Garcia, a non-scholarship player from St. Paul High in Santa Fe Springs, in the starting spot at left guard. Caleb Benenoch, typically the right tackle, also shifted to guard. When the Huskers go to the air, Armstrong often finds second-team All-Big Ten wideout Jordan Westerkamp, who leads the team with 63 receptions for 874 yards and seven touchdowns.
The secondary, already the best in the Pac-12 in yards per pass attempt, will return all starters. The Blackshirts forced a three-and-out on the Bruins’ ensuing drive.

“If we keep (him) in the pocket, make him play quarterback, we think the matchup should be advantageous to us”, Hollins said. Duarte’s 22-yard reception on a fourth-and-1 play from the Nebraska 23 set up Perkins’ 1-yard scoring run. Walker didn’t have to slow down. Bruins QB Josh Rosen completed 59.5 percent of his passes with 20 touchdowns and nine interceptions and he rushed for two touchdowns.
