At least 11 killed in Texas storms that spawned tornadoes
Saturday’s death toll eclipsed the Dallas tornado of April 2, 1957, which killed 10.

At least eight people are already dead due to severe rain and flooding in the state.
On the other side of the state, the Department of Public Safety in Amarillo strongly discouraged travel throughout the entire Texas Panhandle – a 26-county area covering almost 26,000 square miles – because blowing and drifting snow had made the roads impassable.

The National Weather Service in Dallas-Fort Worth determined Sunday that the destruction left behind in hard-hit Garland was the work of an EF-4 tornado.
Police said the deaths happened during tornado-related traffic accidents near Interstate 30 and the George Bush Turnpike, the Dallas Morning News reported, saying some of the bodies were found in cars while others were catapulted from the scene.
North Texas could see a mix of rain and snow Sunday night into Monday, but don’t expect much of the snow to stick to the ground since temperatures will stay above freezing. Texas Gov. Greg Abbott in Austin declared a disaster in Dallas County, which covers Garland; Rockwall County, which covers Rowlett; and Collin and Ellis counties. The Mississippi Emergency Management Agency said on Friday that two people were still missing.
At least one church in the Dallas area was destroyed with its pastor still inside it.
