Shahrhryar Khan said that Azhar Ali and Mohammad Hafeez have agreed to attend training camp along with Mohammad Amir.
The 23-year-old Amir has shown remarkable wicket-taking form in domestic matches since his ban was relaxed in April this year, taking 84 wickets in 12 four-day and 11 Twenty20 matches. “The PCB needs to stand firm even though its resolve will be tested”, said the cricketer, who is set to play at the Masters Champions League.
Pakistan’s one-day Skipper Azhar Ali and experienced all-rounder Muhammad Hafeez have accepted Muhammad Amir’s inclusion and chose to join the in fitness camp. “So they understood and confirmed that they are on the same page with us and now we are looking forward to the success of the team”, Khan said.
“Amir is performing very well since his ban was lifted and his inclusion will strengthen Pakistan team, so I back his inclusion”, said Yousuf.
Sources also claimed that Azhar has made up his mind that he will not lead Pakistan team in the ODIs against New Zealand, if Amir is selected in the squad.
Amir, who was 19 at the time of the spot-fixing scandal, took 51 wickets from 14 Tests between 2009 and 2010.
Shaharyar was quoted as saying by BBC: “We have talked earlier regarding this matter and we will talk again, but still if they (Azhar and Hafeez) do not agree then the PCB will think about disciplinary action against them”. “It was my principle stance and will remain the same throughout my life”.
However, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Shaharyar Khan announced on Saturday that talks have resulted in the senior duo returning to the fold.
“My stance is that all corrupt players should not be given another chance to represent Pakistan”. “I will, in my humble capacity, continue to support every player”.
“I want to clear my stance, as I realised that a lot of people took it wrong and portray it the way they wanted to”, said Hafeez while addressing media at PCB headquarters in Lahore. “I have forgiven all who have damaged the integrity of the Pakistan cricket through corruption but I, in principle, am against corruption and will keep holding this stance forever”.
“I listened to them patiently and I also understand some of their reservations”.
