Louis Van Gaal: I could quit Manchester United
Following the club’s fourth successive defeat at Stoke, their worst league run since 1961, the Dutchman was asked whether he would still be in charge of United for the Chelsea game.

When Van Gaal was asked why his football philosophy, which had been so successful at his previous clubs, was not working at United, he said: “A month ago we were first in the Premier League”.
Stoke manager Mark Hughes had spoken this week of his days as a marauding United striker under Alex Ferguson when the side approached every game expecting to win it and he would have been surprised by his side’s early dominance.
Van Gaal believes his players will fight for him at Old Trafford.
“It’s like that. And the pressure of the environment shall increase, so it’s much more hard and there are no ways artificial ways to solve that”.
That being said, the Chelsea game is largely irrelevant in terms of van Gaal’s future because a win won’t all of a sudden give him job security and I think if a decision is going to be made, the result against Chelsea won’t influence it much.
‘It is more hard because I am also part of the four matches we have lost so people are looking at me and I have to deal with that, but more importantly the players have to deal with that because they are the ones who have to perform,’ he said.
“We have lost the game in the first 45 minutes because we didn’t dare to play our football”, said Van Gaal, whose side host Chelsea on Monday.
“That is what is happening now and you have to cope with it”.
Whether it proves to be the final nail in the coffin for Van Gaal himself remains to be seen.
Even David Moyes had garnered more points at this stage of his sole season in charge of the club.
Van Gaal rejected the idea that it would be better if Woodward backed him with a public statement.
“I’ve seen in my other jobs that when you lose in a top team, then it is always more hard to cope with your environment”, he added.
Murphy said: “With Jose Mourinho you’re guaranteed trophies and Pep Guardiola is the same”.

Goals from Stoke forwards Bojan Krkic and Marko Arnautovic punished United for a awful start at a blustery Britannia Stadium and although the visitors improved in the second half they could not fix the damage.
