The SUV swerved sideways into oncoming traffic, and there a northbound Chevrolet Suburban SUV struck the side of the auto.
Identities are expected to be released Sunday of the four members from the same Twin Cities family who died in a head-on crash on a snowy central Minnesota a day earlier, authorities said.
The Patrol said further details on the crash would be released as they became available.
A relative identified the Columbia Heights family that was killed: 45-year-old Chris Moe, 40-year-old Rae Anne Moe, 12-year-old Anthony Moe and 14-year-old Samantha Anne Moe, according to WCCO-TV.
State patrol said passenger and 25-year-old Kevin Meyer-of McGregor-sustained serious injuries in the crash. Multiple fatalities have been listed, and three people are suffering serious injuries.
There were five people, all from McGregor, in the Suburban, all of whom were taken to a nearby Mora hospital. A 2-year-old child riding in the Suburban was not injured.
Also injured, but not seriously, was Amanda Christianson, 21.
