Rain, sleet, cold temperatures move into the midstate Monday

It will be slow going for most of the day today and into tomorrow on the roads due to an ice storm headed our way.

Oscar-winning cinematographer Haskell Wexler dies at 93
At age 12, he recorded his family’s trip in Mussolini’s Italy together with his family’s residence-film digital camera. Besides his sons, Haskell is survived by third wife Rita Taggart, an actress and cinematographer, and daughter Kathy.

The National Weather Service in Buffalo has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for Western New York from 6 p.m. Monday to 10 a.m. Tuesday. This includes Peoria, Woodford and Marshall counties – north. This is mainly for freezing rain and ice accumulations of 1/4 to 1/2 an inch. The RPM computer model shows what many other models show…an initial batch of snow coming through the area.

Marmo expects temperatures to then rise back into the mid-40s by Tuesday afternoon. The National Weather Service is forecasting a messy Monday evening and early Tuesday morning.

The rain has tapered off for Sunday, but is likely to return Monday morning as sleet and freezing rain. Saturday’s high temperature is expected to be 34. That night it will be mostly cloudy with a low about 29, according to the site.
