Pacheco was the highest capped player ever in El Salvador football history. But his career was plunged into ignominy in 2013 when the Salvadorean Football Federation banned him and 12 other players for life for match-fixing. He also played for the New York Red Bulls in the United States.
Pacheco represented El Salvador a record 86 times, and played for NY during the 2009 MLS season, alongside Colombian Juan Pablo Angel.
Murders in the small South American nation have rocketed this year – an increase of 55%. According to official figures, more than 6000 people have been murdered nationwide since the start of the year.
