Packers fall flat in NFC showdown, lose 38-8 to Cardinals
The Cardinals sacked Aaron Rodgers 8 times and had a pair of defensive touchdowns in the dominating win. That will be Pro Bowler Patrick Peterson, who is having perhaps the best season of his career having allowed just one touchdown pass and a 55.2 quarterback rating when throwing his way.

The embarrassment was nothing compared the one he the rest of his streaking Arizona Cardinals teammates put on the Green Bay Packers hours later.
Arizona defensive lineman Cory Redding scooped it up, tossed Packers running back Eddie Lacy to the ground and rumbled 36 yards for a touchdown.
This year’s Week 17 Sunday Night Football will feature the Minnesota Vikings and the Green Bay Packers.
Green Bay (10-5) ends its regular on January 3, when the team hosts the Minnesota Vikings. Arizona leads the NFL in total offense with an average of 422.9 yards per game and ranks second in the league in scoring at 31.8 points per game. Winning the NFC North by beating the Packers at Lambeau would be a symbolic victory.
Arizona clinched at least the No. 2 playoff seed in the NFC. They had nine sacks on the day against the Packers.
If one wants to discuss good fortune, the Packers had some luck of their own when Carson Palmer was intercepted by Mike Daniels at point-blank range on a screen pass.
“We still really haven’t done anything other than get a bye”, Cardinals coach Bruce Arians said.
Already trailing 17-0 after the defense allowed an 80-yard touchdown drive in the final minute of the first half, the Packers received the opening kickoff of the third quarter.
Arizona Cardinals wide receiver John Brown (12) scores a touchdown as Green Bay Packers strong safety Morgan Burnett (42) defends during the first half of an NFL football game, Sunday, Dec. 27, 2015, in Glendale, Ariz.
“It was a huge swing there”, said McCarthy. A group of receivers that has been maligned all season – James Jones, Davante Adams, Randall Cobb – did little to quell ongoing frustrations against aggressive coverage, and they combined for less than 150 yards. Palmer threw 14 yards to Floyd, then Johnson ran 14 yards for a score to make it 24-0.

On the season, the Arizona Cardinals average 299.1 yards in passing and 118.4 yards in rushing. When Starks fumbled to start the second half, a great defense would have held the Cardinals to a field goal.
