United boss Louis van Gaal packs bags ahead of Chelsea clash

Van Gaal looked like a manager who suspected his time was up after the 2-0 defeat at the Britannia Stadium, but he has checked into the United team hotel as scheduled for the vital game on Monday evening.

Crowell is the first Browns back with at least 140 yards rushing since Peyton Hillis ran for 184 against New England in 2010…. The 49ers offensive line, which had been better with Blaine Gabbert under center in recent weeks, couldn’t block a soul Sunday.

United’s winless run now stands at seven matches thanks to their 2-0 defeat to Stoke on Boxing Day courtesy of goals from Bojan Krkic and Marko Arnautovic.

UK’s prime minister to visit flooded areas as rains subside
West Yorkshire Police declared a major incident after responding to what it said was the “worst flooding in 70 years” in the area. Troops spent the day stacking sandbags but the flooding was so bad the council ran out and begged nearby councils for help.

The latest to do just that is Michael Carrick, with the Manchester United veteran and vice-captain coming out on Sunday to insist that the team is still playing and trying their best for Van Gaal. “That hurts us – it’s not the type of people we are”. “Again we had many chances like in the last games and this time we scored two and didn’t concede one so we won and we’re very happy about that”.

Hiddink sets big goals for Chelsea
Chelsea have Loic Remy and Radamel Falcao in reserve to fill the void up front but speaking after Saturday’s draw, Hiddink admitted he is still to make a decision on who will play.

Meanwhile, Chelsea’s interim manager Guus Hiddink, a compatriot of Van Gaal’s, leapt to the defence of another Dutchman in the firing line – United midfielder Memphis Depay.

“Last week against Norwich [a 2-1 defeat] was a disaster, it was a little bit better on Saturday, but they’re just not good enough”.

But the 64-year-old Dutchman refused to take all the blame himself last night: “My thoughts are that we didn’t dare to play our football in the first half and then we gave a really bad goal away”. “We have got another game quickly to get ourselves ready for and we have got to stand up and be ready for that”.

With Manchester United falling out of the top 4 in the Premier League and following their exit from the Champions League earlier this month, Van Gaal does not have the results backing him up like he did when he was being criticised earlier for being boring and too strict.

“It is not always the club that has to sack me”, said Van Gaal.

After the Stoke game, Van Gaal appeared to accuse his players of bowing to the pressure surrounding the club.

The England striker has endured a frustrating season in a team that has failed to play with any of the attacking brio that brought United 13 Premier League titles under manager Alex Ferguson.

The former Holland manager who have lots of experience working with several big clubs, takes most of the blame for the poor run of the Red Devils because he’s the manager, but he also said his players have not been under-performing.

“It is more hard because I am also part of the four matches that we have lost so people are looking at me”.

“These players have fantastic spirit and they will show that in 48 hours”.
