2nd Test, Day 3: Australia in total command against hapless Windies side
Australia closed at 3-345, with Burns and Khawaja’s 258-run stand having made a mockery of Jason Holder’s decision to send the hosts in at the MCG on Saturday.

Skipper Steve Smith was unbeaten on 32, with Adam Voges on 10.
Khawaja made it three centuries in four innings with a diligent knock in Melbourne on Boxing Day on his return from a hamstring injury.
Bravo was in sight of his second century of the series after his 108 in Hobart before he fell short, slicing Pattinson to Smith.
Total: (3 wickets declared; 135 overs) 551.
“I’ll enjoy this moment”, Khawaja said.
Jermain Blackwood resisted for a bit with a slightly more positive 28, but his aggression got the better of him as he slammed one from Nathan Lyon back at the bowler. “The batsmen are doing a good job, and I thought the bowlers were really, really good”.
It was the first time that four Australian batsmen scored tons in a single Test innings in Australia. Khawaja has not been dismissed for less than 100 in any format of the game since October.
Left-hander Khawaja faced 227 balls and struck six fours and a six while Burns, a right-hander, hit 16 fours and a six in an innings requiring 230 balls. Australia left out Shaun Marsh for the return of fit-again Khawaja, while uncapped paceman Scott Boland was released from the squad.
Burns was finally out when he was smartly stumped by Ramdin off part-time spinner Kraigg Brathwaite for 128.
In his first ball of the session, the offspinner dismissed Brathwaite for 17, the Barbadian prodding an easy catch to Joe Burns at brief leg.
The West Indian team was struggling very badly at the end of the day 2 as they were 91/6 in reply of 551/3 and were 460 runs behins.
So far in the series, Australia have amassed 1,134 runs for the loss of just seven wickets against the wretched Caribbean tourists.
“Physically, I’m going great, but I suppose when you’re scoring runs everything does feel good”, Voges said.
“I tried to show some aggression”, Brathwaite said.
“When they bowled decent areas it was hard to score”.
Starting the innings in the final session, Australia tried to gain some quick runs but lost the wickets of Joe Burns and David Warner by the 11th over.
Warner set the tone for the day, with Kemar Roach dragged out of the attack after the pugnacious opener hammered 15 runs off his first over.

Taylor got his revenge in is next over, the fifth of the morning, with the score on 29 when Warner tried to pull a short one from outside off but only succeeded in lobbing a catch to cover where Marlon Samuels took the offering on the third attempt.
