The crash happened at around 9.50am moments after the pilot lost contact with ground control, A. K. Sharma, director of Delhi Fire Services, said. This was among the many questions that Union home minister Rajnath Singh had to face on Wednesday from the families of the 10 personnel killed in a BSF aircraft crash in Delhi. Reports suggest that the pilot had noticed a technical snag after starting the engine but was told to continue with the flight. “There was fire coming out of its lower part”, said Yogesh Godara, a resident of Bagdola village in Delhi suburb Dwarka that falls on the western side of the airport. “I don’t know when will these new aircraft come but surely he will not be there to see them”, said the father-in-law of the co-pilot Rajesh Shivrain.
Suraj, an eyewitness, told reporters that the plane hit a wall, caught fire and crashed in a field outside the airport. “The aircraft was completely burnt and all the personnel (on board) were charred to death in the crash”, a BSF statement said. The plane that crashed had senior technicians who were flying to Ranchi to fix a helicopter. I saw two bodies. “My thoughts are with the families of the deceased”, Prime Minister Narendra Modi tweeted as home minister Rajnath Singh rushed to the spot.
“This is worrying, for us and everyone who is associated with this wing”.
A light aircraft has crashed on take-off near the airport in the Indian capital, Delhi, killing 10 people.
A team of CISF personnel and disaster management as well as officials from Air Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) and Directorate General of Civil Aviation also rushed to accident site, they said.

“It is a matter of probe what led to the crash”. An aviation official said that an inquiry was ordered to determine the cause of the fatal crash. The BSF has a small flying division but we ensure that our planes are the best and are not in bad shape.
