So far, the Disney film has pulled in roughly $130 million worldwide since opening overseas on Wednesday. Box Office Mojo predicted yesterday that the film could rake in $231 million in its opening weekend, but analysts there now say that number “may be in jeopardy of being too low”.

In weeks leading up to the film’s release, “The Force Awakens” also beat several other records.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens has broken the opening weekend domestic box office record. The record holder for the biggest opening during the month is “The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey”, which took in $85 million in domestic receipts in 2012.

Most Americans either have not seen a Star Wars (31%) or have no favorite (22%) but among people with an opinion The Empire Strikes Back (18%) is the favorite followed by Return of the Jedi (14%).

France generated $5.2 million in ticket sales, Italy $2 million and Sweden $1.7 million. Thats pretty damn impressive, but if The Force Awakens continues to soar like it is, that mark will be left in the dust.
