Hiddink has replaced axed coach Jose Mourinho at the reigning Premier League champions, and watched their 3-1 weekend win over Sunderland from the stands alongside owner Roman Abromovich as well as Drogba.
Zenden, who played for Chelsea between 2001 and 2004 and was an assistant to Rafael Benitez during his stint as manager, told Omnisport : “He’s a well experienced manager”.
“The manager is not on the pitch, it is the players, so we lose the games and the thing we can change in the future is ourselves”.
Hiddink returned to Chelsea’s Cobham training base after his meeting with Mourinho, but he will not get down to work with his players until Tuesday, as they were given two days off following their 3-1 win against Sunderland on Saturday. “However, I am sure we can all turn this season around”.
“The main problem [with Netherlands] was the quality in the group, that is something he will not have at Chelsea because it’s mainly the same players as a year ago [when] Chelsea won the league”.
“I am excited to return to Stamford Bridge”.
Sunderland must play for 90 minutes, keep clean sheets and score any game’s first goal if they are to plot a route to safety, says Sam Allardyce. “It was a good performance and we needed that”, Courtois said.
“We appreciate you taking the time to contact us with your thoughts and we read and considered them all. We have to get back into the habit of winning as quickly as possible”. “Firstly, because there will be big clubs that want him and secondly because I think he’s a guy who needs and wants football and he’s not the sort of guy who’s going to spend eight months at home doing nothing”.
