Dadri lynching: Meat found in victim’s house ‘mutton, not beef’, says report
However, the Uttar Pradesh police is yet to receive a report from the forensic lab. The UP police had initially faced a lot of flak for having collected the meat samples in the first place.

The veterinary department report affirms the claims made by Akhlaq’s family that they had mutton in the fridge and not beef.
According to the UP government’s chief veterinary officer’s latest report, the reason to justify a man’s lynching in Dadri – that he ate beef – have been proved false. Fifty two-year-old Akhlaq was beaten to death by a mob in Dadri over the rumours that he and his family members consumed beef on September 28. The police are still awaiting final FSL report for confirmation.
Today’s official announcement comes less than a week after the filing of charge sheets against 15 accused in the gruesome lynching of 50-year-old Mohammed Akhlaq on rumours of consuming beef. A series of controversial statements and visits to Dadri by the BJP leaders kept the issue on the boil.
The local police had registered an FIR and 10 people including the son of a local BJP leader were arrested.
The Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) on Monday alleged that the Samajwadi Party and Bharatiya Janata Party ( BJP) were behind the Dadri lynching incident as they wanted to take political advantage of the case.

“After this report, the intention of the Samajwadi Party and the BJP has become clear that they did this for political gain”, he added.
