SpaceX Successfully Launches and Lands Rocket 6 Months After Accident

SpaceX CEO Elon Musk provided live updates of the event via Twitter, and SpaceX posted a video showing the mission in its entirety to YouTube. The rocket landing was just icing on the cake. The 11 satellites launched via Falcon 9 yesterday join an existing 31 already in orbit, including six that Falcon 9 launched in 2014. However, the SpaceX vessel managed to land in one piece.

‘Affluenza’ teen Ethan Couch, mother detained in Mexico
The Tarrant County Sheriff’s Office said Monday night it was aware of the CNN report, but “cannot confirm” Couch’s apprehension. CNN is reporting tonight that Mexican authorities arrested both of them near Puerto Vallarta, a popular beach resort area.

Monday’s launch was the first since June 28, when a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket disintegrated just two minutes after liftoff. During that attempt, the Falcon 9 rocket launched successfully but exploded less than three minutes later. Also, Blue Origin’ rocket was on a “suborbital” flight so didn’t go as high as the Falcon 9.

Without that play, the Bills punt and then pray. “It wasn’t pretty, it wasn’t ideal by any means”, Taylor said. That was Buffalo’s last playoff year, but Flutie had the NFL’s No. 1 defense, not No. 21.

Blue Origin, SpaceX and other companies have been competing to develop the first fully reusable rocket.

The real victor was Miss Philippines , Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach, who looked astonished by the sudden turn of events. “To me, as a Colombian, she is still Miss Universe”, President Juan Manuel Santos said.

The mission’s primary objective was to deploy 11 small satellites into low orbit.

The SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket lifts off at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station, Monday, Dec. 21, 2015.

Musk said a company-led investigation had pointed to the failure of a 2-foot strut holding one of many helium bottles on the rocket’s second stage. It is the first time that billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk’s Space Exploration Technologies Corp., or SpaceX successfully recovered a rocket from an orbital flight.

The company’s first try at landing the rocket was in January. Now SpaceX has released new footage shot from a helicopter that was hovering near the landing zone, and it offers a fantastic view of the 14-story-tall rocket stage hitting its mark after returning from space. A month ago, Amazon’s Blue Origins New Shepherd spacecraft also performed such a feat. According to SpaceX, The ORBCOMM network uses low-Earth orbit satellites to provide reliable and cost-effective machine-to-machine communications to and from the most remote areas of the world.

The landing leg tooling was designed by Leading Edge, Johnson said, and is its most significant contribution to SpaceX.
