SpaceX postpones rocket launch until Monday
But Musk, the tech billionaire who has sought to disrupt the space industry, said in a tweet early Saturday that it was “currently looking good for a Sunday night (Florida time) attempted orbital launch and rocket landing at Cape Canaveral”.

The rocket in now scheduled to launch at 8:29 p.m. ET Monday from Cape Canaveral in Florida.

The revamped rocket will carry 11 small communications satellites for ORBCOMM Inc, which provides messaging services for retailers, shipping containers and others. If they can stick the landing, it’ll be a watershed moment for space travel.
After launch, SpaceX will attempt to land the first stage of its Falcon 9 rocket in an upright position on solid ground for the first time, a milestone it sees as key for making rockets as reusable as commercial airplanes one day.
With the success of landing of the first stage if the New Shepard vehicle of the Blue Origin, a company started by Amazon.com, Jeff Bezos became the first to do such a great distance.
Residents may wish to follow the company’s launch webcast for real time information concerning Sunday’s launch.
The California-based company headed by Internet tycoon Elon Musk is striving to revolutionize the rocket industry, which now loses many millions of dollars in jettisoned machinery and sophisticated rocket components after each launch. CEO Elon Musk made the announcement on Twitter, citing a projection for better conditions on Monday.
In November, Blue Origin successfully launched a rocket into space and then recovered it. The rocket, called New Shepard, took a payload a bit more than 100 kilometers from earth and then returned for a nice, soft landing. SpaceX not only has the cargo contract, but is also preparing to fly astronauts to the space station, which puts even more pressure on its return to flight.
“It’s really a massive difference if we can make reusability work”, Musk said last week.
Analysts say SpaceX’s feat is harder to accomplish because the Falcon 9 flies higher in altitude.
It will be the company’s first try at relanding the booster on dry land; all previous attempts have been at sea.
It would be the first time a rocket would land on the cape.

The Falcon 9’s second stage engine will continue driving into orbit with 11 Orbcomm message relay satellites, the primary objective of Sunday’s launch, after the first stage unlatches and falls away from the upper stage about three minutes after liftoff.
