Sleet And Freezing Rain Moving In Today
Total daytime ice accumulation of 0.1 to 0.3 of an inch is possible and total daytime snow and sleet accumulation of less than 1 inch is also possible. Freezing rain will develop this morning and continue through the evening.

Illinois State Police officials said there were about six or seven accidents – either cars spinning out or crashing – in interstate roadways because of the freezing rain. The wind will come from the east at 9 to 15 miles per hour, with gusts as high as 28 miles per hour.
Tonight, according to the National Weather Service, there is a chance of snow, freezing rain, and sleet before midnight, then freezing rain and sleet between midnight and 4 a.m., then rain and sleet after 4 a.m. Steady temperature around 32.
In their latest report, forecasters from the National Weather Service are predicting freezing rain is possible from Burlington to Lawrence and points east through 4 p.m. Monday afternoon.

By daybreak Tuesday, temperatures were forecast to rise to the low 40s and to a high in the mid 40s by the afternoon.
Accumulations in excess of a tenth of an inch of ice can make travel extremely risky to almost impossible.
