Mississippi, Tennessee, Arkansas floods leave 18 people dead

At least 11 people were killed in Mississippi, Tennessee and Arkansas as storms mixed with unseasonably warm weather spawned Christmastime tornadoes from Arkansas to MI. Forecasters called the situation “life-threatening” and said that mobile homes “will be destroyed”.

Close by, in Benton County, Mississippi, two people died and at least two were missing.

The South normally witness peak tornado season in the spring, but experts said that such storms can happen at any time.
