Star Wars fan in NY legally changes name to Darth Vader

“‘Star Wars’ picks up religious images, including Christian images and maybe some from other religions”, the 30-year-old pastor noted.
A few hundred people turned out for the event at the Protestant house of worship four days before Christmas, at a time when many German churches are struggling to keep up attendance, membership and donations.
Six cinema tickets to the new film Star Wars: The Force Awakens were to be presented by the church to those in fancy dress. “It’s great that there are subjects that people are interested in”.

“I think the whole question of God is very interesting, but getting up early on a Sunday is one of those things”.
“Sometimes I do the charity runs in costume, or else sell T-shirts”, he said.

As for why he chose Vader and not Luke Skywalker or Han Solo (or Yoda), he said he’s always been a fan of the Evil Empire and the fictional villain formerly known as Anakin Skywalker.
