Bruins put Krejci on IR, call up Griffith
Senators’ goalie: There was no word Monday whether Ottawa would stick with the guy who stymied Boston on Sunday or give him a break and put Andrew Hammond between the pipes, but there’s no doubt Craig Anderson is the reason Ottawa is where it is in the standings today. “I thought we played a solid game”. It’s about playing a game and really stepping up individually and as a team, and that’s really the only way we can approach this. “It’s such a fickle spot, once you take a few of the injections and what not, it gets pretty swollen and sore, so we opted for those two extra days to try to get the swelling down a little bit”, Ryan told the Ottawa Citizen.

Mika Zibanejad had the other goal and the Senators snapped a two-game losing streak. While Boston has sputtered in its bid to pull itself atop the Atlantic, Ottawa has dropped two in a row and five of seven to remain three points out of first place. David Krejci had the Bruins’ goal, and Tuukka Rask made 19 saves.
Krejci suffered an undisclosed injury and did not play the third period. There was no update on his status after the game.
The 24-year-old blueliner is expected to skate alongside Adam McQuaid on the Boston Bruins ‘ second pairing in Tuesday’s contest.
The Senators led 2-1 after 40 minutes despite being outshot 31-17. “Obviously there’s periods in the game that we’re not happy with, but that’s something we’ll address (Monday), but like I said it’s a lot easier to do that with the win behind us”. “I think for me I just need to be confident in myself, use my skill and my speed, and at the same time just make sure that I’m good in my own end. One shot away and we weren’t able to get that”. And one game later, against the same opponent, the B’s offensive depth will be tested yet again with top-line center David Krejci out of action. Bobby Ryan fired it low on Rask, looking for a rebound, Rask kicked it right to Zibanejad streaking down the middle.
But either way, Ottawa went on the power-play to finish off the first, and the Sens made the Bruins pay.

Griffith will be eligible for Tuesday night’s game when the Bruins host the Ottawa Senators at TD Garden. “He wasn’t even there, so it was just a awful play that ended up working”. Also, co-leading scorer David Krejci is “week-to-week” with an upper body injury. Boston scored three power-play goals and split the home-and-home series with the Senators, who beat the Bruins 3-1 on Sunday in Ottawa. Colin Miller and Zach Trotman were the healthy scratches.
