Spurs can win title, says boss Pochettino
Spurs beat Watford 2-1 on Monday thanks to a last-minute victor from Heung-min Son, and Pochettino’s men are now third, four points behind leaders Arsenal.

Erik Lamela gave his side the lead before Odion Ighalo replied just before the end of the first half.
Deeney provided the assist with an improvised header while Ighalo held off Dier well to pick his pocket and then rode on good fortune to roll the ball beneath Spurs’ goalkeeper Hugo Lloris to level the game and make it evenly poised for the restart.
Watford began to take control after the break but their hopes of claiming victory were severely dented midway through the second-half when Nathan Ake was shown a straight red card for a knee-high challenge on Lamela.
Quique Sanchez Flores believes Watford can harbour ambitions of improving on their superb 2015, despite suffering defeat against Tottenham to sign off the year. Watford’s Tommy Smith was the main culprit as he was responsible for a glaring miss just yards from goal, while teammate Ashley Young saw a goal ruled out.
“But to speak about the title – it’s more important to keep working hard and showing our maturity”.
Pochettino has been reluctant to rotate his team too much but the festive schedule forced his hand, enabling Trippier to benefit.
Watford lost in the Premier League on Monday afternoon.
“The only disappointing thing was the way we conceded because at 1-0 up at half-time, I think we could have killed game”.
Ake, who had been an excellent presence on Watford’s left flank, hit the same man with a high tackle that seemed a certain yellow.
DF Kieran Trippier, 7 – Embraced his role as an attacking full-back, getting forward and putting a number of risky crosses into the box before ultimately setting up the late victor for Son.
“It was a bit hard at the start, moving down here, but all the lads, the staff and the people around made me feel so welcome”, said Trippier.
Tottenham went up the other end and won the game in the 89th minute with a superb piece of improvisation from Son. Kane, Lamela were enormous but Erikson, Dembele and Ali have arguably been the most important players this season for Spurs in a year that they look like the best team capable of taking one of the Champions League spots.

“He is a very fair player”. But sixth placed United, without a win in eight games in all competitions, still failed to score at home for sixth time this season – leaving them five points off the top four and their manager still on borrowed time.
