Weddle fined $10K by Chargers

An acrimonious relationship between the San Diego Chargers and All-Pro safety Eric Weddle came to a messy end this week. Weddle wanted to watch his young daughter in a performance with the cheerleading squad.

During the Week 15 game against the Miami Dolphins, Weddle stayed on the field at halftime to watch his daughter perform in a halftime dance ceremony.

Cuba: Obama welcome to visit but not to meddle
US President Barack Obama himself called on Thursday for Congress to lift the embargo, calling it the “legacy of a failed policy”. USA regulations still prohibit travel to Cuba for tourism.

Prior to the 2015 campaign, Weddle was a brief holdout, skipping the Chargers’ voluntary workouts because he “felt disrespected by the way the organization [was] handling [contract extension] negotiations”, per ESPN.com’s Eric D. Williams.

Shame on you, Chargers.

The Chargers have dealt with many injuries throughout this season, but this may be perhaps their most devastating one even with wide receiver Keenan Allen out.

What’s worse, the fine underscores a strained relationship between Weddle and the franchise, one that could affect his future with the team.

Weddle has remained quiet on Twitter, but it’s clear from his agent’s words that he’ll be on a different team next season.

Weddle led San Diego’s defense by playing 961 snaps in 2014.

Weddle was not in the locker room Monday during the time reporters were allowed in. He did not play in the second half of the team’s Thursday night contest against the Oakland Raiders after aggravating the injury.

Besides Weddle, safety Darrell Stuckey (knee), tight end Ladarius Green (ankle) and defensive tackle Sean Lissemore (shoulder) were also placed on the reserve-injured list Monday.

Team spokesperson Bill Johnston said the Chargers have 17 players on injured reserve, so room for all of them could be an issue.

“Team has multiple players they aren’t putting on injured reserve that cannot play this weekend but have made a decision to put @weddlesbeard on IR”, he posted.

He has played nine seasons with the team and has been to three Pro Bowls and was a first-team All-Pro in 2011 and 2014.
