Colts Sign Quarterback Ryan Lindley
Hours after signing quarterback Josh Freeman, the Indianapolis Colts added fellow free agent signal caller Ryan Lindley, according to the team’s Twitter account.

Indy also promoted inside linebacker Amarlo Herrera to the active roster, signed guard Kitt O’Brien to the practice squad and put linebacker Josh McNary on injured reserve.
All three of the Colts’ quarterbacks to see action in 2015 remain injured and unable to play, hence the pair of signings Tuesday.
While Freeman hasn’t appeared in a regular season game since 2013 with the Minnesota Vikings, he at least has proven starting experience-having made 60 career starts in 6 National Football League seasons.
Matt Hasselbeck, who’s started eight games, hurt his shoulder in the second quarter, while Charlie Whitehurst pulled his hamstring in the fourth.
With Whitehurst out and Hasselbeck unlikely to be avilable, Indianapolis came into Tuesday with undrafted first-year player Stephen Morris as their likely starter for this week and only quarterback who wasn’t injured. As a rookie in 2012, Lindley appeared in six games (four starts) and completed 89-of-171 passes for 752 yards and seven interceptions.
Andrew Luck has been out for weeks due to a lacerated kidney. Since then, Freeman has had offseason/training camp stints with the New York Giants and the Miami Dolphins (this year), but he eventually signed with the Brooklyn Bolts of the FXFL this year. He also started one postseason contest for the Cardinals and connected on 16-of-28 passes for 82 yards with one touchdown and two interceptions.
It’s been that type of season for the Colts.
