The New York Rangers will be well rested and coming off a rare December victory when they begin a three-game road trip against the Nashville Predators on Monday night.

Their 35 third-period goals are more than they have scored in the first (29) or second (31) periods.
The Rangers welcomed defensemen Kevin Klein and Dan Girardi back to the lineup after Klein had missed 11 games with a strained oblique muscle and Girardi four with a knee injury.
The first, by Craig Smith, came 2:18 after an apparent goal by Filip Forsberg was overturned by a video review that determined goaltender interference occurred.
Fast tied the game at 6:59 of the second. With a 4-4-2 record over their last 10 games, the Predators find themselves in a similar situation to the Rangers.
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) – Leading 2-1 after two periods against one of the league’s top offenses, the Nashville Predators successfully went into attack mode to close things out. Instead, the Predators took a 2-1 lead on Neal’s first at 13:48 that came as a result of Kevin Hayes falling over in his own zone and slowly backchecking.
Filip Forsberg extended his point streak to five games when he struck on the power play before the opening frame was out, one-timing a Roman Josi cross-ice feed under the arm of Henrik Lundqvist to give Nashville a 1-0 advantage.
With Klein and Girardi, also right-handed back in the lineup, captain Ryan McDonagh, who is left-handed, was able to move back to his natural side after being switched to the right side and paired with Marc Staal the past five games. Mats Zuccarello tops the Rangers in goals (15) and points (30) while Derick Brassard (28 points) is coming off a two-goal game. When it was 5-1, I thought it was time to give him a break.
Raanta replaced Lundqvist, an increasingly common occurrence, with 7:53 left.
“There’s no doubt that Kleiner, since he’s been with us, has played some real solid hockey”, Vigneault said of the former Predator, who did better than Girardi in reestablishing stout play in his own zone.

The Rangers have allowed five goals or more in six of their last eight games. Despite the challenge that the Preds have brought to the Blues in recent seasons-they occupied first place for almost all of 2014-15, until losing their grip to the Blues in the season’s final weeks-they’ve fallen off a bit during 2015-16. Nashville C Mike Fisher played his first game since sustaining a lower-body injury December 1.
