That smashes the previous opening day record of $91.1 million, set by 2011’s “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2”. The movie cost a reported $350 million to make and market.

Guess that $4 billion dollar initial investment that Disney made in LucasFilm is paying off.

After the movie, fans enjoyed a private after-hours party at Disney’s Hollywood Studios which included encounters with Star Wars characters and access to new Star Wars experiences, including Star Wars Launch Bay, Star Tours: The Adventures Continue and more.
