Tottenham beats Watford 2-1 after late Son goal
WATFORD, England (AP) – Tottenham provisionally moved up to third in the English Premier League after a last-minute goal earned a 2-1 win at Watford on Monday.

“In football a lot can happen”, Pochettino said, per BBC Sport.
“We won a very important game”. “I see too many games Spurs play well and do not take maximum points”. I play to help my team and my team-mates.
‘I think the numbers reflect that (the title) is always possible. “We are in a good period so we need to carry on”.
Odion Ighalo is certain to stay at Watford beyond the January transfer window, according to captain Troy Deeney. Deeney headed a ball hopefully over and back to Ighalo, waiting at the penalty spot with Eric Dier marking him.
Chelsea also had chances to score, with David De Gea turning John Terry’s header over the bar, before making an impressive double save from Pedro and Cesar Azpilicueta early in the second half.
Despite the one-man disadvantage Watford rallied in the last few minutes, and a Ben Watson corner most of the Hornets fans thought had gone in was ruled out by goal-line technology.
The Argentine maintains Son Heung-min, Nacer Chadli and Clinton Njie could step in if needed but they are all more comfortable as attacking midfielders – and Njie is now expected to be out until March with a knee injury. Kieran Trippier’s first cross was cleared but he put the ball straight back into the box.
And Mark Hughes’ side then snatched the win through Arnautovic’s penalty, after he was fouled by John Stones.
Pochettino added: “It was hard”.

Trippier in particular proved to be a threat down the right side, sending crosses in regularly, including the one that Son converted for the winning goal. The 23-year-old still looks lightweight but he was positive on the ball and played some nice passes out to Trippier in particular.
Moments later, Spurs scored the victor. While both strikers still cause no small amount of stress, Ighalo’s exceptional bit of individual skill that resulted in the equalizer was Watford’s only shot on goal. We have the youngest squad in the Premier League.
“So other teams can want Iggy as much as they want but I know Gino (Pozzo, Watford’s owner) and it wouldn’t make sense to sell”. “We can now say it was an accident against Newcastle – we’re very pleased with the reaction”, Pochettino said.

The Daily Mail praised Son, saying “what it took to win the game with Son’s inventive backheel”.
