Al Jazeera: ‘We’re not making the allegation against Peyton Manning’
“The only allegation in the program from Charlie Sly is that growth hormone was sent repeatedly from the [anti-aging clinic] Guyer [Institute] to Ashley Manning in Florida, ” Al Jazeera reporter Deborah Davies told Savannah Guthrie and Carson Daly on TODAY Tuesday. When Guthrie asked if the documentary had any evidence against Manning, Davis replied “We aren’t making the allegation against Peyton Manning”.

The documentary claimed Manning took a supply of HGH in 2011 while he recovered from surgery. It said the drug, which was later banned by the National Football League in the 2011 collective bargaining agreement, was delivered to his wife so that the quarterback’s name was never attached to the shipments. “He’s like, ‘I really appreciate you guys working with me, ‘ ” Sly tells Collins of the quarterback’s approach. Last I checked, Ashley Manning doesn’t play in the NFL.
Catlin says Manning has two things going for him if he chooses to bring this to court: He denied the claim before it aired and the story was recanted before it aired.
Since the report came out Saturday, Manning has vehemently denied using HGH.
Sly has previously retracted the claims he made in the Al Jazeera documentary. For some reason then, the reporters thought it was relevant to discuss Ashley Manning’s medical history?
Responding to questions about the timeline, Al Jazeera released a recording and a transcript of a phone call conversation it had with a Guyer Institute employee who said Sly interned for about three months with a start date of October 17, 2011.
ESPN’s pre-game coverage of the story will include sound from the Sunday interview and footage from Manning workouts with the team this week. Those allegations are not true. Added Peppers: Its completely erroneous and I think its irresponsible journalism, in my opinion. Another player named in the report, Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker James Harrison, said he has looked into legal action only to be told it wouldnt be worth the cost.
The documentary points out that HGH is banned by the NFL and explained how the NFL Players Association initially pushed back on the implementation of the blood test that detects the synthetic drug, leaving viewers to draw their own conclusions. The allegation in the program is very simple, that when Charlie Sly worked in the Guyer doing part of his training … the clinic was sending out not one shipment but repeated shipments of growth hormone to Ashley Manning in Florida.
“He was consistent, he was calm, he was absolutely not badgered, ” she said.

Sly has recanted what he said while being filmed undercover in “The Dark Side”.
