Twitter hires Apple’s director of inclusion and diversity
In an evidently effort to deal with the “lack of workforce diversity” issue, popular microblogging service Twitter has appointed a new executive, Jeffrey Siminoff, as its new Vice President of Diversity & Inclusion.

He succeeds Janet Van Huysse, who over six years had built the company’s human-resources department as Twitter’s head count grew from fewer than 100 employees to thousands.
Siminoff is now the inclusion and diversity, talent management and employment law senior leader at Apple, according to his LinkedIn page. In 2013, Twitter was one of the ten most-visited websites and has been described as “the SMS of the Internet”. Among those goals was increase in female employees to 35 percent, an increase in underrepresented minorities overall to 11 percent, and an increase in underrepresented minorities in leadership roles to 6 percent.
Siminoff himself tweeted that he was “super excited” about his new role. Critics were quick to point out the irony in replacing a woman with a white man to purportedly accelerate diversity.
Siminoff helped launch the inaugural Out on the Street event in 2011, which looked at ways of advancing LGBTI equality in the business world and financial sector. He is also the founding member of Out Leadership, a global LGBT leadership organization.
‘Blacks and Latinos over-index on using Twitter, but their board of directors and C-suite leadership remain all white, ‘ Jackson was quoted as saying.

We rate TWITTER INC as a Sell with a ratings score of D. This is driven by several weaknesses, which we believe should have a greater impact than any strengths, and could make it more hard for investors to achieve positive results compared to most of the stocks we cover.
