Klopp: Henderson can play through pain
Jürgen Klopp has called on Liverpool to prove they have adapted to the Premier League’s physical tests when they travel to Sunderland on Wednesday.

The Liverpool skipper made his return in the side’s 1-0 win over Swansea City at the end of November, and has played 90 minutes in each of their last three Premier League fixtures.
Despite their struggles, the club will enter 2016 just nine points behind leaders Arsenal if they beat Sunderland, and in the mix for a title challenge, contrary to what Jurgen Klopp and pundits might say.
“What we have to create is a stable level of performance, that’s what we have to work on”. “I think we would have to play a different way (if Brown starts)”. If we do this, then we can get results in a row. We spoke about this and we did it. It was really good.
But as the Black Cats search for positives to take into their next two home games – against Liverpool and Aston Villa – one major plus is the Reds come to Wearside with just one win in their last five matches.
The club scored 101 goals, scoring four or more goals 11 times and finding the net three times a game on another 11 occasions.
But after seeing Sunderland swept aside so comfortably against Chelsea and Manchester City, Allardyce want to see his players demonstrate some resilience to avoid defeat, first and foremost.
Both teams have significant injuries, but for Sunderland they will be without their Captain John O’Shea out once again with a calf problem. Like I said after the (Leicester) game, it was not too easy for him to come on – you saw he needed a little bit more of a longer warm-up in the first 10-15 minutes, but the second half was better. The only thing we can do is try to focus not on the league or where we’re going to end up finishing.
Sunderland will need to overcome huge odds against them at 5.00, while Liverpool are in the driver’s seat at 1.70 listed by bet365 Sports.
The day of “reckoning” has arrived for Sunderland, with Sam Allardyce serving notice on his players that they have “failed miserably” this season.
“We need to play more clever football, which is what we did against Leicester by playing in behind their defence more, and that gave us a platform”.
Another example is Daniel Sturridge, whose well-documented injury problems has led to Klopp holding the striker back from his latest comeback despite the forward saying he is “ready to go”.
