Salman Khan’s portal KhanMarketOnline.com faces trouble
Organization president Sanjiv Mehra said to some news daily today, “we’re a world-renowned marketplace”. Salman Khan was much in limelight lately for his hit and run case. Now whether this legal hassle yet again puts Salman Khan in a spot or no only time will tell. The Khan Market Traders Association is planning to file a case against the actor for trademark infringement.

Dabangg actor Salman Khan on the occasion of his 50 birthday, launched an online shopping portal named, khanmarketonline.com. He can be a part of Khan Market first if he wants to use this name.
Mehra further added, “When someone goes to the website khanmarketonline.com, people will think it to be the official website of the famous market in Delhi”.
Established in 1951, 65-year-old Khan Market in south Delhi attracts lots of shoppers not only from Delhi, but also foreign tourists.
The traders have made a decision to approach the Delhi High Court when it reopens on January 4, 2016. “They are bound to be confused”. It is likely to be dismissed as a frivolous litigation if and when the case is filed.

“We have objection to the name of his portal as Khan Market is a renowned entity known not only in India but across the world. But because the two parties here are not competitors in the same trade and it is unlikely that their businesses will be affected, I don’t see any merit of the case”, Bangalore-based legal researcher and founder of Alternative Law Forum Lawrence Liang said. As social jurist advocate Ashok Agarwal suggested, “There is no provision in the law for such claims. This may only give promotion to the marketplace as well as the portal site”.
