Major heartbreak for Diesel SUV and Sedan owners in Delhi
If one goes through the imposed ban, there will not be new registration of Vehicles like Toyota’s Innova, Mitsubishi Pajero, Mahindra & Mahindra’s Scorpio, Tata Sumo, Tata Safari until 31st of March 2016.

It directed all taxis operating in Delhi and neighbouring provinces to convert to the less polluting compressed natural gas, or CNG, by March 31st.
Analysts say Maruti Suzuki – India’s biggest carmaker – could be a beneficiary of the partial ban on diesel cars in Delhi as most of its fleet comprises of smaller sized engines and petrol cars.
As a part of countering the alarmingly high pollution levels in Delhi, the top court also ruled that all trucks not bound for Delhi will not be allowed to enter the capital through National Highways 1 and 8.
The court barred diesel trucks older than 10 years from entering the gridlocked capital, and banned the burning of rubbish because the toxic atmosphere reduced visibility and made breathing hard.
According to TimesOfIndia, over 23 percent of the cars on the streets of Delhi run on diesel. The court said its order overrides all the other orders passed by other forums, including the National Green Tribunal (NGT). Supreme Court Judge TS Thakur asked, in response to a petitioner’s plea. The green tax would increase from Rs700 to Rs1400 for light commercial vehicles and from Rs1300 to Rs2600 on heavy commercial vehicles.
The court has also doubled the cess on entry of trucks in Delhi.
The bar on registration will not apply to existing diesel vehicles.
“The worst polluted city in the world should take drastic measures.” they added, “Let us have accurate and authentic figures about pollution caused by diesel cars”.
During the three-hour-long hearing, the bench asked the counsel representing Centre and the Delhi government to come out with comprehensive long and short term plans to tackle the menace of air pollution.
Government of NCT of Delhi to take immediate steps for fix of pavements and make pavements wherever the same are missing and also to take immediate steps for procurement of the requisite vacuum cleaning vehicles for use on Delhi roads expeditiously but not later than April 1, 2016.

Earlier this month, the Delhi government announced that cars with odd and even registration numbers would be allowed on the roads on alternate days from January 1 to bring down the pollution level.
