Manchester City’s Kompany out for at least a month – Pellegrini
Prior to Tuesday’s scoreless draw against Leicester City at King Power Stadium, the team hadn’t been able to keep a single clean sheet without him.

Pellegrini attempted to ease his influential captain back into action as a second-half substitute after an eight-game absence as City cantered towards victory at the Etihad Stadium, but the Belgian lasted just nine minutes.
“We will see with the doctor’s report but it is the same injury, the same calf”.
Dismissing the need to buy another defender, or other players, in the January transfer window, Pellegrini said: “We are trying to find the reason why he has so many injuries in his calf”.
Back-to-back wins over Crystal Palace and Stoke City were supposed to be the catalyst that resulted in Sunderland slowly climbing the league.
“I don’t think the score reflected the difference between the two teams”, Pellegrini added.
“It’s very hard because we are still in every league – with the League Cup and everything we are still playing”. I didn’t want him to play the whole game because he was coming back after 40 days.
Kompany will miss tomorrow evening’s visit to leaders Leicester, and Pellegrini has yet to put a date on his return. “At the moment maybe we’re conceding some goals in two or three games – Tottenham, Liverpool and Stoke – but Arsenal didn’t shoot too much before they scored the first goal”. I am sure that in the second round we are going to be involved till the end for the fight for the title. Injuries have and still are preventing me to play my role the way I’d want to but it’s not stopping me progress.
Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini has claimed that his team did “more” than Leicester City to win tonight’s game, but had to settle for a goalless draw. He is captain because has a lot of important things to give – his performance, his personality.
The win has City sitting third, a point in arrears of second-placed Arsenal, as Sam Allardyce’s struggling Sunderland lost for the fourth straight match to remain second bottom.
He told Leicester’s official website: “It was a good lesson”. I d love this to continue but it s not easy.
