Osweiler still starting, but Manning nears return
Denver Broncos coach Gary Kubiak said quarterback Peyton Manning will return to practice on Wednesday.

Peyton Manning is set to return to practice Wednesday for the first time in a month, but he’ll be a sideline spectator again Sunday when Brock Osweiler makes his fifth consecutive start Sunday at Pittsburgh.
Asked if Osweiler, who is 3-1 since replacing Manning last month, could keep the starting job even if Manning is cleared to play, Kubiak declined to speculate.
This is why Osweiler’s time to be the Broncos’ bona fide starting quarterback, one who can feel confident in his ownership of the role, may have to wait until next season.
Manning was not going to play on Sunday in the Broncos’ Week 15 against the Pittsburgh Steelers, but the Broncos did not expect Manning being unable to go in Friday’s practice. The 39-year-old had throwing sessions on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.
Denver’s eight-game winning streak over the Raiders ended despite allowing just 126 yards of offense, including 27 yards on 24 rushes. Though he crossed the 300-yard passing mark for the first time in his career, he failed to throw a touchdown.
“I’ve said it from the jump that you’ve got to go back with Peyton whenever he’s healthy for the simple fact that he has the experience you want”, said LaDainian Tomlinson, according to the Denver Post. It was his first on-field work with teammates since he left the Chiefs game November 15 because of a plantar fascia tear.
With Manning running the scout team, Brock Osweiler continues to get the first-team reps with the team’s offense. We all know Manning is incapable of making plays with his feet that Osweiler has proven capable of making. I vented saying how I couldn’t believe all these people, these experts, actually though Brock Osweiler was the answer for the Broncos.
As they approach the final weeks of the season, the Broncos’ best option at quarterback is the Peyton Manning who won divisions, went to Super Bowls, set records and made them the team everybody in the AFC was chasing.
“Frustration is a part of football”, Kubiak said.

The Broncos have been careful not to make a decision regarding their future at the quarterback position. It’s hard to see them going all the way if home field advantage isn’t on their side, which is something they let slip away from them with the shocking home loss to the Raiders. “I have a lot of faith in both of those guys”, Green said.
