Salvation Army Kettle exceeds goal by $1000
Officials with the organization set the goal at $180,000 in November, which was $40,000 more than what was raised in 2014.

Each year the Salvation Army of Twin Falls counts on its Christmas donations to fund about one-third of its total budget for the year, Cook said.
The overall goal of $360,000 included individual unit goals of: $100,000 in Bristol; $160,000 in Johnson City; and $100,000 in Kingsport. The Salvation Army is hoping to raise $3.5 million through the Red Kettle Campaign. Smith said kettles with bell ringers often preform significantly better than those without.
Of those that were staffed in Johnson County, 70% were paid employees, which meant the dollars raised didn’t go as far as donations at kettles staffed by volunteers. “It is an important program and we are proud to help the Salvation Army provide food and gifts for those in our community who need a helping hand”.
A Solon resident noticed there wasn’t a single red kettle in her city.
The victor of the competition will be announced later Wednesday, according to The Salvation Army.

Lock said by collecting more than the goal, the Salvation Army would also be able to continue working with its partners to explore what other community needs there may be.
