Man City will have to go without Kompany for another month
Manchester City are looking at another month without captain Vincent Kompany after the defender suffered a second degree tear in his calf during Saturday’s 4-1 Premier League win over Sunderland, manager Manuel Pellegrini has confirmed.

The Belgium worldwide missed the draw against Leicester on Tuesday night and Pellegrini revealed he will be out for at least another three to four weeks after scans revealed he had aggravated the same calf but with a different problem. As much as you change the side around, which is what I have been doing since I’ve been here, and think you are going in the right direction, clearly we are slipping back into the danger zone and it is hard work to think now what my best team is. We know, because we know him and after all this year he needs two or three games to return to his normal performance.
“I have to try and make them more resilient and better equipped to beat Liverpool and Aston Villa – two massively important games coming up where the players need to be at their very best to try to achieve as many points as they can get”.
“That’s why I repeat, not happy but not disappointed also because we played well but we couldn’t score”.
Despite being third in the Premier League table on 35 points, the Manchester City defence have struggled without the presence of their talismanic captain this season. Have your say in the comments section below.
It means Pellegrini’s side have failed to win any of their last six games on the road in the Premier League.
“In the second half of the season we will continue improving”.
He said: “I said when we lost to Arsenal that we prove a lot”. He is a big character and one of the leaders in this team, so it helps when he is fit.

The visitors got the first clear chance of the game in the 18th minute when City’s Kevin de Bruyne put Leicester goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel to the test. It s not easy for us but we want to fight with everybody. “I can only say well done to our players and our fans are unbelievable, they support us and they push us”.
