Victims’ Advocate Says Charges Against Cosby Show It’s Not Too Late For
Bill Cosby appeared in a Pennsylvania court on Wednesday to be arraigned on charges of aggravated indecent assault, and was later released after posting $1 million bail, The Associated Press reports.

It’s the first criminal charges against Cosby over his conduct with women, which has received new scrutiny in the past year.
Numerous alleged incidents occurred decades ago and the statute of limitations for prosecuting them has expired.
Although Constand had “no interest whatsoever in a romantic relationship with Cosby”, prosecutors say, he made sexual advances toward her on two separate occasions before the alleged assault, both at his home. If convicted, Cosby faces up to ten years in jail and a $25,000 fine. Despite all this and the many women who have come out and revealed they too were a victim, Cosby continues to deny any wrongdoing.
This newly reopened case stemmed from an incident in 2004 in which Andrea Constand, a Temple University employee at the time, claimed that Cosby took her back to his home in Philadelphia where he allegedly drugged and sexually assaulted her.
The lawsuit alleges defamation and intentional infliction of emotional distress, saying Cosby and Johnson never spent any time alone in his house, he never drugged her and “her story is a lie”. She claimed that on one occasion in early 2004 he gave her pills and wine, which made her unresponsive and unable to move. Announcing the charges Wednesday, Steele said the decision was made after “new information” came to light in July. Over the previous year, Cosby’s legacy has been tarnished by multiple accusations of sexual assault. In a past interview, she described Bill Cosby as a friend and mentor, even launching an education tour together in Richmond. Cosby’s biggest legal penalty had been Constand’s civil suit and a quiet settlement in 2005.
Cosby, wearing a black and white hooded sweater, was stone-faced as he entered and exited the court through a media scrum.
Masten declined to comment on the recent charges.
Court documents show Cosby admitted under oath that he obtained quaalude pills to give to women with whom he wanted to have sex.
“I don’t think they have evidence for anything”, Parsons said.
“It is very significant that the Montgomery County District Attorney felt that the case against Mr. Cosby was strong enough that it could meet the standard of proof in a criminal case”, Allred said. Cosby, through his representatives, accused some of the women of trying to extract money from him or get ahead in show business. His attorney called the case against Cosby “unjustified” and said Cosby will be cleared.
