Bulls beat Pacers on last-second bucket from Butler
Regardless, Butler came up big for the Bulls when they needed him most, making big plays and controlling the ball in key moments with Derrick Rose sidelined due to hamstring tendinitis. Aaron Brooks buoyed the Bulls to a 14-point lead with 29 off the bench, including a couple crucial baskets in overtime to aid Butler offensively.

IN squandered a late fourth quarter lead, leading to a frustrating overtime loss in Chicago.
The energy of the Pacers in the third quarter brought them back from a 14-point deficit, with the same formula that got them their win over Atlanta coming to play tonight. It was Butler’s right hand that seemed to tip the ball in over the outstretched body of Paul George, as Chicago would win by the final score of 102-100. George Hill led the Pacers (18-13) with 20 points while George shot 7-of-20 from the floor for 19 points.
Butler had 28 points, four rebounds and four assists, and was the hero of the night. When he couldn’t get adequately loose in pregame warmps, the Bulls made a decision to take what Hoiberg deemed a “cautious” approach. Brooks committed a costly turnover with 25 seconds left and Monta Ellis sank a 3-pointer with 3.7 seconds left after Solomon Hill beat Taj Gibson to rebound Ellis’ first 3-point miss. Kirk Hinrich started in his place, though he played just 12:34. Butler then hit two free throws and Chicago got the ball back after George Hill’s turnover. The Pacers only shot 37% for the half and were 2-8 from three. Defensively, the Pacers yield 98.3 points against the opposing teams. “He’s probably learning how moody I am on a daily basis to tell you the truth”. They were giving him the ball every time and he was getting production, with 9 points in that final quarter, including a big 3 to tie the game with 35 seconds left and another equalizer on their next possession on a very nice crossover of George and drive to the rim.
Bobby Portis chipped in huge in the first half, with 10 points in his 9 minutes.
Butler also further addressed his relationship with Hoiberg, whom he publicly criticized recently, setting off a mini-crisis that the coaching staff would’ve rather not had to deal with.
“I really can’t tell”, Rose said when asked if he feels he has an extra gear athletically now.
Bulls: Doug McDermott (right knee) was questionable but played 21 minutes and scored five points….

Pacers: Miles was scratched about an hour before tipoff and missed his second straight game…. Hoiberg said little-used forward Cristiano Felicio will be assigned to the D-League. With an off-day on Thursday and another day to get further treatment, there’s a good chance Rose could be ready for the New York Knicks on Friday.
