Leonard Fournette leads as LSU runs over Texas Tech in Texas Bowl
The 56 points were LSU’s most in a bowl game ever, and tailback Leonard Fournette’s five touchdowns tied an NCAA bowl record.

The win caps an up-and-down season for the Tigers, who were ranked as high as No. 2 at one point, only to endure a three-game losing streak in November that nearly cost Les Miles his job. “I think he is very talented and I think he will have the opportunity to do a lot of things before he leaves here”.
So I went to practice every day, I worked hard and I worked with my brothers at receiver and every day they always say you’re the next one up.
Today’s LSU Tigers vs Texas Tech college football bowl game has a start time schedule of 9:00pm eastern time and airs on TV channel ESPN. This was after the Red Raiders had come back from a 21-6 deficit in the second quarter to get within 21-13 at the half and to within 21-20 with 10:28 to go in the third quarter.
“The first three-and-out was minus yards, minus yards, minus yards”, Miles said. LSU virtually eliminated Texas Tech’s running game and sacked Mahomes six times, while forcing him to run for his life on the majority of his completions.
Tech dropped to 7-6, a three-win improvement over 2014.
James Butler scored on a 4-yard run with 1:06 left and Nevada benefited from a late gaffe by Colorado State to beat the Rams 28-23 in the inaugural Arizona Bowl Tuesday night.
LSU, which had not scored in the 20s since October, scored 21 points in the third quarter alone on consecutive possessions to take a commanding, 42-20 lead.
While most of the focus will be on Fournette, the Red Raiders will counter with the most prolific passing game in the country led by quarterback Patrick Mahomes. Quarterback Brandon Harris completed 53.1 percent of his passes for 1,904 yards and 12 touchdowns against five interceptions. However, he found his stroke in the second half, ending the contest with 254 passing yards and 1 touchdown on 13 of 22 passing and an interception.
As we previously mentioned above, Fournette ran for 212 yards on 29 carries, a 7.3 yard average.
Tigers’ Fournette ran 43 yards for a TD.
Now the bowl victory has given LSU some momentum heading into the offseason, which the Tigers can only hope will strengthen recruits’ confidence in the program.
Texas Tech had already gone through some in-house moves after the regular season, parting ways with multiple defensive assistant coaches.
While LSU exploded on a less than stellar Red Raider defense, rolling up 638 yards of total offense, their problems for a majority of the season started on the offensive end.
“That was a different level of pass rush than what we’ve seen this year”, Kingsbury said.
On LSU’s second drive of the game, Harris’ third-and-10 pass was intercepted in front of tight end Colin Jeter at the LSU 31.
Texas Tech won the coin toss and elected to receive the opening kickoff.

He got going early when he shed one defender and hurdled another on a 35-yard run on his second carry. The 46-yard pass setup a 4-yard touchdown run by Fournette, his fourth score of the night.
