Laquan McDonald death: Chicago policeman denies murder

Mayor Rahm Emanuel on Wednesday outlined more steps the Chicago Police Department will take to protect the public and curb unwarranted use of lethal force when police deal with potentially heated crisis situations.

Statoil said the rig had been taken off the well because of choppy weather when the wave hit. Two vessels are now working to get a line on the barge and bring it under control.

“Our goal is to change the way officers think when they approach an incident”, said acting police superintendent John Escalante, adding that he has also reissued an existing policy requiring officers trained to use a Taser to take one on patrol if one is available.

The Los Angeles Police Department announced in the beginning of 2015 plans to equip every officer within the department with a taser. Van Dyke pleaded not guilty to murder charges in the 2014 shooting of 17-year-old Laquan McDonald during his arraignment. When they arrived at the building of the caller, they faced a “combative” 19-year-old, Quintonio LeGrier, wielding a baseball bat.

Earlier Monday, Bush attended a campaign event at a Hialeah restaurant, where he appeared in an unbuttoned shirt, sans tie. But Trump didn’t name names, instead telling Todd, ‘I watch the shows, ‘ and complimented Todd’s own program.

Officials haven’t identified the officer involved in the shooting, but have said the officer has been placed on administrative duty for 30 days.

Escalante said the new policies were created following a review of 15 other major police departments in the country, including New York, Seattle, Portland, Cincinnati and Cleveland.

Police have not said whether responding officers were equipped with a Taser during last weekend’s police shooting.

The mother of five and grandmother of ten was struck by police fire accidentally and Legrier stated during his interview that Jones was not offered any medical assistance by officers either. Squad-car video of the fatal 2014 shooting, released last month, set off protests and calls for Emanuel to resign.

“No one here in this neighborhood is afraid to open their doors when they hear police are coming”, Coalition for a New Chicago’s Gregory Livingston said, according to the Tribune. The mayor had announced over the weekend that he had ordered John Escalante, the interim boss of the CPD, to review the police’s crisis-intervention team training, which teaches officers how to respond to a person with mental-health problems and is aimed at resolving confrontations with the mentally ill without violence.

Officer Jason Van Dyke’s arraignment comes as the midwestern U.S. city is reeling from another fatal police shooting.

Herbert also said that they haven’t ruled out asking for a change of venue.

Speaking to reporters Wednesday, Emanuel noted that Chicago is not the only city struggling with the issue. “How many kids did you kill today?” “This tragedy further underscores the need for a broad and deep federal investigation, which I continue to strongly support”.

Some protesters have been calling for Emanuel’s resignation, although the Chicago Democratic political establishment remains relatively firmly behind him-a measure to permit voters to recall Emanuel, for example, has gained little steam, and few politicians have joined in calls for his resignation, likely cognizant that they could be next.
