Nigeria president says ready to negotiate for release of Chibok girls
Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari will host his first Presidential Media Chat on Wednesday in Abuja. “The cost of petrol is so low that we don’t have to subsidise it”, Buhari, who kept the petroleum portfolio for himself, told journalists in televised panel interview.

The president said he had no firm intelligence on where the girls were or the state of their health, adding: “That is the honest truth”.
Buhari had previously claimed that Boko Haram, the Daesh-allied group that has been fighting an insurgency in northeast Nigeria since 2009, had been “technically” defeated.
Further attacks rocked the town of Madagali in Adamawa state Monday, when two young female suicide bombers detonated their explosives in a busy market, killing a reported 30 people.
“Some leadership of the Boko Haram wanted to make contact but we insisted on knowing the bona fide Boko Haram”.
To this end, he warned that the federal government may have no option than to ban the use of the hijab if the bombings continue.
I need to be convinced about devaluing the Naira.
Buhari said: “about two million IDPs are in different camps mostly in Borno state and over 75 per cent of them are women and children”. These are our priorities; not people looking for money to bring in rice (to the country).
Buhari, who last week proposed a record budget of a 6.08 trillion naira for 2016, said he has declared his assets four times and recently turned down a massive budget for cars for the presidency.
Buhari said the country needed to invest in capital projects, especially in power, railways, roads and fight terrorism to create employment for the populace.
Asked if his government has any idea if the girls were still alive or dead, President Buhari replied matter-of-factly that there is “no credible information”.
Besides, Odekunle stated that the relevant agencies of the government must also show willingness in prosecuting corrupt persons in order to hasten legal proceeding of such case.
Addressing these impressions, Mr. Buhari stated, “If you know the atrocities committed by the people granted bail then you’d understand”.
“What I am urging all Nigerians is to pray and support this government and be patient for good things to come, and close your mouth to bad talks”, he said.

“This unhealthy portrayal of the citizens by the very father of the nation, who has remained unrelenting in de-marketing his country through unguarded statements, is indeed a great disservice to Nigeria and its worldwide image”.
