Officer Pleads Not Guilty To Murder

Authorities also admit that Tonya Couch’s husband, Fred Couch has been cooperating with U.S. Marshals for the safe recovery and return of his wife and son to the United States. The person was not authorized to discuss the case and revealed the information on condition of anonymity.
The two fled the Fort Worth area after the 18-year-old missed a meeting with his probation officer. Both had been scheduled to fly back to Houston on Wednesday. Ethan Couch remains in a Mexican jail.
Known as an “amparo”, or protection, such appeals try to block a government action.
It was not immediately clear why Tonya Couch was not included in the judge’s injunction.
Couch was convicted on four counts of intoxication manslaughter and sentenced to 10 years of drink and drug-free probation, which critics saw as leniency because of his family’s wealth.
A federal judge has three days to rule on whether Couch’s appeal is well-founded. The process could take weeks.
Such appeals are unique in Mexico because they are precautionary.
Because Couch is on juvenile probation, any punishment would be limited to the terms of probation set in juvenile court. During his 2013 trial on drunken-driving charges, a defense witness testified that Ethan was afflicted with so-called “affluenza”, meaning his irresponsible behavior and lifestyle were a product of his affluent upbringing and “profoundly dysfunctional” parents.
He and his mother are now held at a migration facility in the western city of Guadalajara in Jalisco state.
Among those who saw the mother and son was a tenant barber who gave only his first name, Carlos, and who said the building’s owner had told him that the mother and son had spent four days in the same apartment he himself had previously rented at a cost of around 6,000 pesos ($350) per month.
While at the condo, they called out for a pizza, which tipped police off to their whereabouts.
They were found in an apartment in the Pacific resort city of Puerto Vallarta, and Couch had changed his look.

What kind of justice Couch could face will depend on whether he is treated as an adult or a juvenile as pertains to his alleged probation violation. If the judge denies that, Couch will be jailed in a juvenile facility for four months until April 11 when he turns 19.

Authorities in Texas said they were issuing an arrest warrant for her on charges of hindering an apprehension, a third-degree felony that carries a sentence of two to 10 years in prison.
