WARWICK, R.I. (AP) Officials say an Allegiant Air flight traveling from Orlando, Florida, to Bangor, Maine, was forced to make an emergency landing at a Rhode Island airport after passengers reported an abnormal smell.

None of the 151 passengers on board or the six crews members were injured and all deplaned normally.
She said the flight had to be diverted for an electrical issue and the plane landed without issue. The office said that the downed plane was taken out of service and will be “thoroughly inspected” to determine the cause of the problem.
“That speaks volumes about the maintenance program”, said Chris Moore, chairman of The Aviation Mechanics Coalition, Inc.
The report detailed 27 incidents that he said showed Allegiant pilots had to divert or return to the airport they left. The crew reported heat in the rear of the aircraft, the statement said, without providing any other details.
There were 153 passengers on the plane and everyone was able to get off safely.

Passengers were booked into local hotels Wednesday night and a replacement aircraft will take the them to Bangor Thursday morning.
