Bill Belichick backs Chip Kelly, calls firing ‘disappointing’
“There was a risk involved in allowing Chip to have that kind of say over player transactions”, Lurie said.

As you may or may not know by now, the Philadelphia Eagles have fired Chip Kelly and are in the early stages of searching for a new head coach. “Josh [McDaniels] in Denver, I mean there’s a lot of examples”.
Kelly was dumped after missing the playoffs for the second straight season and failing miserably in his first year in charge of personnel. Murray said he wanted to keep the conversation private and would not divulge who initiated it. He also did not speculate about whether Kelly’s ouster would help his chances of staying with the team. The Eagles fired Kelly on Tuesday after three seasons.
The fired Eagles coach released a statement Wednesday night on his way out of town after being canned by Eagles owner Jeff Lurie, and just hours after the Birds’ boss made it pretty clear that Kelly’s arrogance and lack of people skills were a big factor in why he is no longer head coach. Belichick and Kelly have a relationship that predates Kelly’s time in the NFL.
“I think it’s, yeah, I’d say it’s really disappointing”, Belichick said.
He also said he won’t treat Sunday’s game like an audition for the Eagles job or any other team’s head coaching gig.
Bill Belichick is one of those people. He won a Super Bowl. Titans interim head coach Mike Mularkey said it’s “not worth the risk” of playing Mariota on a sprained right knee in the season finale Sunday at Indianapolis.
“Yeah, it’s the best situation in the league”, he said.
“Look, you won’t find a guy who is less racist than me”, Kelly told reporters this summer. To build that up over time, it doesn’t happen in training camp”, Belichick said adding, “It takes some time to go through that.
His answer might come as a surprise.
Safety Malcolm Jenkins said that there were times when the Eagles defense was just on the field for too many snaps.
The Eagles’ running back was clearly unhappy with his diminishing role in the Eagles’ offense over the past four weeks and even went to owner Jeffrey Lurie to state his displeasure after a recent game. “We communicated well together, and maybe that was just me”, Barwin said. “They do a good job, (I) have a lot of respect for them”. “[In] ’03, that was a good football team”. That wasn’t the best team, but that team played the best so we won. “I was blessed to work with a gifted and hard-working coaching staff every day, and they will succeed wherever they go”. It takes a toll on you. “But that wasn’t the case in ’02”.

“You have to change the culture”. “Normally one coach is different from the previous coach”. He has not played bad, but again, the Eagles gave up a second round pick for him, so you would expect more production from your starting quarterback. Lurie said Roseman will be responsible for “making sure our player personnel department is as good as it gets in the National Football League and be accountable for that”.
