Police Hoping For Safe New Year’s Eve

The Kansas Department of Transportation issued a grant for Olathe, Kansas, police to conduct a saturation patrol on New Year’s Eve.

Local sheriff’s offices, State Police and municipal police departments are taking part in a statewide holiday “crackdown” that began December 18 and will run through Sunday.
“You’re going to see a huge increase in roving patrols and DUI checkpoints all throughout the state”, said Trooper Tyler Weerden of the Connecticut State Police.
Most of the additional officers throughout the county will be part of saturation patrols.

Troopers ramped up their enforcement a year ago at this time and gave out hundreds of speeding and seat belt citations.
