AJ McCarron’s Wrist Is Getting Better
Cincinnati quarterback AJ McCarron participated in a light practice on Wednesday after saying he would “be ready to go” when the Bengals play the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday. A win and a Patriots loss would give them the top seed, but a loss would throw them into the No. 5 or 6 seed if the Chiefs defeat the Raiders, or the No. 3 seed if Oakland pulls the upset at Arrowhead Stadium in a game that kicks off at the same time as Denver’s.

Per ESPN, in a conference call with Baltimore reporters, McCarron said he remembered speaking with Harbaugh prior to the draft and his Drew Brees comparison.
Whether people want to realize it or not, the Cincinnati Bengals are the benchmark for success in the AFC North. The Baltimore Ravens were the benchmark at one point and so were the Pittsburgh Steelers.
McCarron said he would have to get through a full-speed practice before seeing whether the injury has any physical or mental effect on him. “The one thing I can say about AJ as a young player is that he gets leadership”.
Then came the game against Pittsburgh on December 13, the interception Dalton threw in the first quarter and his fateful contribution to the tackle that stopped Steelers defensive end Stephon Tuitt. He had no other turnovers. “You watch the film, evaluate and you move on”. My eyes got caught up. “That’s a little bit different, but I think I do understand they’re trying to get it right”. Tyler Eifert was cleared from concussion protocol after missing last two games. Then Lance Dunbar hurt his knee in Week 4, removing the change-of-pace running back from the game plan while they were still trying to figure out how to replace departed free agent DeMarco Murray.
“I think we’re heading in the right direction, so we’re looking forward to this week [and will] continue to prepare and get ready for a great Cincinnati team”, Ravens linebacker Elvis Dumervil said. “All we can do is control what we can, go out, play our game, win the game and whatever happens in the rest of the games happens”.
The Bengals haven’t won a playoff game since the 1990 season, the sixth-longest streak of postseason futility in National Football League history.
PREDICTION: The Bengals are highly motivated by the prospect of securing a first-round bye, which could help get QB Andy Dalton back for their playoff opener.
That makes it a big positive that Bengals offensive coordinator Hue Jackson has seen quick and steady growth from McCarron in the last few weeks.
“They adjusted, we adjusted”, said Lewis. After the half McCarron had a really hard time getting things going and his deep accuracy was abysmal hitting 2 out of 7 attempts of 15 or more yards. McCarron has come out firing in his two starts, leading the team to first-half touchdowns and halftime leads, but the offense has stagnated in the second half of both games.

“They’ve gotten us”, cornerback Jimmy Smith said, referring to Cincinnati’s four straight wins. I’m not afraid of that. “At one point, I was like, ‘C.J. you might have lost it.’ I have to protect the ball”. “I thought we played a very good game against the No. 1 overall ranked defense, a very good team in a tough place to play”.
