Officers in Tamir Rice case still in jeopardy
A grand jury on Monday declined to bring criminal charges against the officers in the death of Rice, who was brandishing a replica gun in a park before an officer shot him, drawing a protest on Tuesday afternoon in downtown Cleveland. No arrests were reported.

“The tragedy of Tamir Rice must be seen with unblinking clarity through the lens of a series of incidents of police misconduct committed by members of the Cleveland Police Department over years”. The demonstrators then blocked traffic by forming circles at major intersections while holding hands and chanting. The officers left Tamir bleeding on the playground with no aid or medical attention for four full minutes.
Their numbers dwindled after marching for several hours and many broke off and went home about 7:15 p.m. Jackson said protesters have every right to voice their opinion, but he said the city won’t tolerate any violence.
1 Will you join me in demanding justice for Tamir?
We demand that Cleveland police officers Timothy Loehmann and Frank Garmback be indicted for the murder of Tamir Rice.
“She doesn’t know what she can do”, Chandra said.
“While the grand jury and the prosecutor have spoken, there remains a multitude of fundamental, unanswered questions”.
He was reminded that 12-year-old Rice was shot in Cleveland. The shooting provoked outrage nationally and together with other killings of black people by police in places such as Ferguson, New York City had helped fuel the Black Lives Matter Movement which has taken centre stage and discussed by all presidential candidates on both sides of the political aisle.
The words of an assistant prosecutor who handled the Rice case – one of the most high-profile and controversial USA cases of black death by police over the past year – were most searing for Welbeck.
Prosecutor McGinty deliberately sabotaged the case, never advocating for my son, and acting instead like the police officers’ defense attorney. A judge ultimately acquitted the patrolman of manslaughter.
Cleveland – a city of 390,000 that is more than 50 percent African-American – pledged in May to overhaul its police force and aspire to “bias-free” law enforcement, under an agreement with the Justice Department. “The Tamir Rice case shows how prosecutors twist grand juries to protect police”.
Police Chief Calvin Williams says officers won’t take an aggressive approach toward the protesters unless things turn violent.

The basic facts of the case are these: A little over a year ago, Officers Tim Loehmann and Frank Garmback responded to a 911 call about someone pointing a gun that was “probably fake” in a nearby Cleveland playground.
